Key Source and Veridicom Partner to Deliver the First Airline Keyboard Equipped with Passenger Fingerprint I.D.
Airline Keyboards Integrate Biometric Sensors For Tighter Airport Security
OAKLAND, CA (October 1, 2001) -Key Source International, the Airline Industry's leading integrated keyboard manufacturer, and Veridicom, the recognized leader in silicon fingerprint sensors and software, today announced their partnership to provide the first all-in-one keyboard solution for strengthening security in the airline industry.
The new airline keyboard (KSI-1295 ATB2) is equipped with state-of-the-art security features desired by the major commercial airlines, including biometric fingerprint sensors that verify both airline personnel and passenger identities. The keyboard was also designed to improve customer service, reduce input errors, and ticket fraud with optical scanners that automate passport and airline ticket procedures at check-in counters.
The addition of the fingerprint biometric sensors will bring airport security to a new level in the United States, without affecting the efficient flow of passenger traffic through the airport. KSI airline keyboards include a slot for scanning biometrically-equipped frequent flyer cards to verify passenger's identification by matching the passenger's biometric fingerprint data against the airline's frequent flyer database. "We are working with major airlines with tens of millions of members in their rewards programs," said Phil Bruno, VP Sales, Key Source International. "A large percentage of these fliers are top tier members, who have close relationships with the airlines due to their frequent travel, making them strong candidates for the new frequent flyer card that can instantly validate their identity for safe and efficient travel."
These new cards will store the passenger's biometric fingerprint data captured by placing a finger on Veridicom sensors in the keyboard at an airline check-in station. "The integrated keyboard is an innovative approach to handling numerous airport security issues very effectively," said Naeem Zafar, CEO, Veridicom Inc. "Our proven biometric technology has already been successfully deployed in airports around the world, and been providing high-security access to protected facilities, global corporate networks and laptop computers over the last few years."
