Customer: Telephone Company in New York
Type of Business:
Regional phone company of New York,

Integration Problem:
Upgrade 3,500 Directory Assistance Service Operators (411 local and interstate service).
This custom keyboard needed to satisfy - 5 key points: Provided both left and right capabilities, have multiple dedicated key stations, meet the ergonomic requirements of the *(CWA) and help increase through put of incoming calls.

Keyboard Solution:
Key Source International created from the ground up a custom keyboard: 181 keys, custom scan codes left and right hand keypad and met the CWA standards. The per call transaction time was reduced by 20% in most cases.

Scope of Project:
To date we have delivered nearly 3,500 keyboards. The system that incorporates our keyboard is the backbone of this telephone company's call center for 411, 911, toll operators and assistant operators.

Customer: Healthcare Corporation - Miami, FL

Integration Problem:
This Healthcare Corporation came to us for help to create a custom keyboard that would physically integrate into their new blood analysis machine for emergency and operating rooms. The problem they faced was trackballs were not acceptable because of contaminates.

Keyboard Solution:
Key Source International developed a small foot print keyboard with a new innovative product from Japan called ISO point. This is a linear roller that acts like a mouse and stays contaminate free in certain environments.

Scope of Project:
Key Source International has produced nearly 1,500 of these units to the Healthcare Corporation in Florida.
Customer: Major Air Line Company in the US
Type of Business:
Commercial Air Carrier

Integration Problem:
Speed check-in, streamline and upgrade reservation systems.

Keyboard Solution:
We customized a keyboard design with key tops, 4 track MSR, built rugged to stand up to 24 x 7 use.

Scope of Project:
Since 1990 we have supplied over 10,000 custom keyboards for ticket counters, check-in, reservation, curb side sky cap service and baggage handling - This air line company is an on going customer.
Customer: Major Investment Company in New York City, NY
Type of Business:
Stock Exchange

Integration Problem:
They needed a custom keypad that could transmit data 70 feet to an "X" window terminal placed over-head at the Stock Exchange.

Keyboard Solution:
We created a custom keypad with 70 foot cable and RS 485 interface. The keypad is ruggedized with mechanical switches, heavy-duty cable with detachable connectors on the keypad.

Scope of Project:
We produced 250 units and they are still in service at this major Stock Exchange.

Customer: Greeting Card Stores
Type of Business:
Greeting Cards, and Gift Stores with 5,000 stores in North America.

Integration Problem:
To upgrade their current POS system from an antiquated IBM proprietary hardware to open architecture of the PC using Windows® NT.

Keyboard Solution:
Using the Wombat® JR keyboard we created a custom map and key cap sets specifically for these greeting card stores and custom OPOS NT driver. This driver is unique to the POS industry. OPOS is a NCR, Microsoft standard for connecting POS hardware to NT seamlessly.

Scope of Project:
To date we have rolled out 1200 Wombat® JR with a potential for 10,000 units to come.

Customer: Telephone Call Center
Type of Business:
Call Center and subcontractor for 411-service, toll and long distance operators.

Integration Problem:
Because this telephone call center is a private subcontractor for companies like AT&T, U S West and Best Western Hotel reservation. They were happy to find a multi-function, easily programmable keyboard that could work for a multitude of customers with a minimum amount of training time.

Keyboard Solution:
The Wombat® POS keyboard fit the bill. This was an "off the Shelf" solution that would work with a minimum of modification. Custom key tops, custom maps and a special top housing (no MSR was needed) to conceal the card reader slot. The goal was of course speed through all calls, as this telephone call center gets paid by the number of calls it services each day. Reduce training time because of the transient nature of their work force and be easily adaptable from workstation to workstation for each of the call center's customers.

Scope of Project:
They came to Key Source International via PCPlus, GmbH of Munich in Germany. They are one of the largest integrators of DAS * systems in the world. They handle such high profile customers like Deutsche Telecom and British Telecom. We have produced 300 units, with a potential for 300 more units. * Directory Assistance Service (411, 911& Toll operators)

Customer: Major Call Center Network in Europe.

Integration Problem:
Working in conjunction with a major Call Center Network in Europe we needed to develop a next generation PBX -Call Center systems that could be used across various business platforms. One of the most important factors was, a user interface that would reduce training time, speed through put and be ergonomically compatible with European standards.

Keyboard Solution:
Key Source International created the OTN keyboard developed for Call Center marketing and PBX systems. It enables the operator to answer calls and obtain information much faster than if working with a conventional 104 keyboard. The keyboard is configured for multiple languages and has a patented right/left hand keypad.

Scope of Project:
Call Centers are becoming increasingly popular in Europe as well as the U.S. These system are used by car rental agencies, catalog houses airline reservations and anywhere that people call an "800" number to order services. We have produced 21,000 units to date.

Customer: Directory Assistance
Type of Business:
Directory Assistance Service Call Centers

Integration Problem:
This major directory assistance Call Center needed to upgrade their DAS telephone center to handle 300,000 calls per day with fewer operators and faster through put per call. Their old system was an old proprietary OS that has been scarped for a PC based DOS operating system.
This created a unique problem. They could not use a standard 101 keyboard. They in fact needed a minimum of 150 keys, ergonomically compliant with CWA*, and have long lasting mechanical switch technology. They turned to Key Source International having seen the keyboard we created for another major call center in New York..

Keyboard Solution:
The finished product is what we call the KSI-9002. This keyboard was designed for maximum through put with defined key stations and custom scan codes to interface with the new DAS system. A new plastic housing was designed to accommodate the 160 key stations with strict attention paid to the needs of the Communication Workers of America and their ergonomic requirements.
This keyboard combined with the new computer workstations created a highly efficient center for this company to handle nearly a half a million calls per day with 20% less staff and an average of 18 seconds per call.

Scope of Project:
This project is still on going and active at both locations. We sold nearly 2500 of these keyboards with less than 2% down time.

Customer: Airline Company in Australia
Type of Business:
10th largest Commercial Air Carrier in the world.

Integration Problem:
This major airline company service desks in 21 airports around the world needed to have a multi function keyboard with credit card readers and barcode capability for reading luggage tags. In addition there was a requirement for a custom keyboard for load factoring of out going aircraft.

Keyboard Solution:
The Wombat® 1290 was used to create a multitude of custom keys that afforded faster check-in, MRS and barcode functionality. The Wombat® JR was selected for load factoring; its compact size and ruggedness made it particularly useful for outdoor usage at each gate this airline company has in Australia and New Zealand.

Scope of Project:
This company is an ongoing customer and we also worked hard to help them get ready for the Olympics in September 2000.

Customer: Major University Book store in the United States
Type of Business:
Largest College Textbook Retailer in America

Integration Problem:
This large university bookstore needed to upgrade and standardize one hardware and software system for their growing college book store marketplace.

Keyboard Solution:
Working with the University's software developer and using the Wombat® KSI-1290 we created a specialized map and color coded key caps to interface with new Follett POS systems.

Scope of Project:
To date we have delivered nearly 3,000 units to the field and have further potential for some 4,500 units..
